Jennifer Thomas, Director of Adult Spiritual Formation

Gay Grosz, Director of Music Ministries

Ministry:   I have always felt that my ministry in the church is to clearly communicate the Word of God through hymns, anthems, and musical offerings.  It is such a blessing and privilege to be able to use my talents in the church setting.  It is my charge to foster the joy of music in worship, provide a musical learning experience for the children and youth, and bring the church family together in all the ways that the gift of music has to offer.

Brief Bio:   I have lived my entire life in Shreveport.  I started playing the piano in church at age 10 and have continued to serve as a church musician through the years.  I received my undergraduate education at Centenary College and completed my graduate work at LSU in Baton Rouge.  I am an intensely loyal Tiger fan and have purple and gold in my blood!   I have taught piano privately as well as at Centenary College since 1986.  Through the years, I have been affiliated with Shreveport Opera, Shreveport Symphony, Baroque Artists, and the Evangeline Trio.  My husband Ken is a former KCS railroader and we live with 6 little people (dachshunds and chihuahuas).  I am blessed to have 2 fabulous sons and 5 wonderful grandchildren who live in Tulsa and Houston.

What I Love About Music:   I love the way music speaks to the soul.  Music transcends all boundaries and unlocks doors.  It truly is a universal language that can be uplifting and healing in ways that are sometimes incomprehensible.

Interests:   Spending time with my husband Ken and my 6 little doggie children.

Favorite Books, Movie, Music:  Self-improvement and biography, The Sound of Music, classical.
